RULES OF THE CLUB
(as amended August 8, 1995)

I. Definitions:
A. "Immediate Family"within these rules is to include Member's spouse, parents, children, their spouses, grandchildren, great-grandchildren. No family member can be on the premises without member being present.
II. General rules:
A. Sign register at club house before any use of club (except regularly-scheduled meetings) - your name, type of use, date and time.
B. Consumption of Alcoholic Beverages on Club Property is PROHIBITED.
C. Only shotguns are to be used on Club grounds.
D. No slugs, rifles or pistols are allowed.
Please note:
E. Any violation of the above rules will be grounds for dismissal from the Conservation Bird Dog Club, with no refunds on certificates or any other fee, in accordance with the constitution and by-laws of CBDC.
F. The Club Governing Board has the final say in determining punishments and hearings concerning infractions (this includes appeals). Each member is responsible to adhere to all rules voted on by the membership. It is also each individual's responsibility to report in writing, rule violations that they feel have been abused and need attention, to the Governing Board.
G. If a person is dismissed from the club, and is caught using the club after being dismissed, he can be arrested for trespassing.
III. Specific Rules
A. Lake Rules.
1. State of Indiana fishing license or non-resident fishing license is required if you fish in the club's lake.
2. Size and creel limit:
Blue Gills - Limit 20
Channel Catfish - Limit 3 over 14"
Bass - Limit 3
Bass under 12 or over 16 inches may be kept. Bass 12 to 16 inches must be released.
3. Only electric motors or rowing allowed on the lake.
4. The use of minnows is not allowed.
5. No fishing during field trails.
6. No swimming or wading allowed.
7. Trapping permitted only with the Board of Directors approval.
8. A member may bring his immediate family. Member must stay with family guest while they are fishing.B. Skeet Range Rules.
1. The hours of operation will be Monday through Wednesday: 10:00 AM till 8:00 PM, Thursday through Saturday: 10:00 AM till 6:00 PM and NO SUNDAY SHOOTING!
2. No shooting during field trials.
3. Members are to furnish their own shells and clay targets.
4. Members are to pick up their own shell casings, boxes, and keep the area policed.
5. Trap machines are to be left un-cocked when not in use.
6. All shooting must be in the proper shooting field direction.
7. Member may bring one guest per visit.
8. All gun safety rules must be followed: guns loaded only while at shooting station.
9. Only numbers 7 1/2, 8, or 9 shot are allowed to be used on the range.C. Bird Field Rules.
1. A member may bring one guest to assist member in training, but the guest may bring his dog only one time: any exception to this must be approved by the Board of Directors.
2. No person shall work birds without a valid Indiana hunting license and Upland Game Stamp.
3. All members shall abide by the following general safety rules:a. No person shall shoot within 500 feet of any house or within 300 feet of any public highway
b. Use only 7 1/2, 8, or 9 shot.
c. When training dogs, shoot only in areas that shot will not fall on adjacent properties
d. No person shall load gun until he is in the bird field, and guns shall be unloaded before leaving bird field.
e. All members shall keep clubhouse and grounds policed.
f. Dead birds are not to be put in any barrels. Each member is to dispose of dead birds.4. Preserve boundaries shall be clearly marked.
a. Under no condition shall a member cross on adjacent property.
b. Each member is solely responsible for damages they might incur to adjacent property.5. Members are not to shoot birds, unless they've been released by the member - they may work their dogs, but cannot shoot birds they have not released.
D. Club Rental Rules.
1. The Clubhouse or Shelter house will only be rented to club members; this does not include Lake, Skeet Range or Bird Fields.
2. All club rules must be strictly adhered to.
3. The building and grounds should be left clean after use.
4. All lights, air conditioning and appliances should be turned off and properly locked.
5. When using the Shelterhouse, no fishing privileges are included for guests of members.E. 4-wheeler Rule.
1. Club 4-Wheeler is not to be used by any member except during field trials. Failure to follow this rule will result in loss of membership.
F. Retirement Rules.
1. Dues-paying members prior to 3/1/93 shall continue to pay dues to retirement status (Fixed Income) and have 5 years paid history.
2. As of 3/l/93, any incoming member must pay dues a minimum of 10 years and be on a fixed income.G. Keys.
1. Keys are not to be loaned to anybody; this includes family members.
H. Annual Dues.
1. September lst - dues are due (30 days grace)
2. October lst - $10.00 late fee assessed, with a certified letter being sent to the individual, informing him of his situation.
3. November 1st - individual is dropped from the club membership, and will be treated as a new prospect if he should want to rejoin.
IV. Attendance Rules for all New Members as of 12/14/93
A. All new members will be "probationary" members for one year.
B. The Governing board will judge if a probationary member has successfully completed all requirements of membership. This evaluation will occur 30 days before or after his (1) year anniversary date.
C. Criteria and requirements to become a permanent member of the Conservation Bird Dog Club:1. Miss no more than three (3) meetings/year (Meetings held 2nd Tuesday night of each month at 7:30 P.M.)
2. Must participate in Club functions, i.e.; workdays, field trials, kitchen help, etc. (this does not include running dogs.)
3. Follow all club rules and regulations, NO EXCEPTIONS.
4. Become familiar with members (old and new) and assist them with committees and/or other duties.
5. Each new member will be required to explain why he is unable to attend meetings or functions by contacting a Board Member.D. After probation period:
1. Members are subject to dismissal, and can lose part or all privileges, if the following occurs:
a. No effort made in attending regular club meeting or special details (at least required to notify officer of restrictions or events if possible).
b. If a member has normal working hours during the hours of regular meeting, a letter should be drafted by the member notifying the governing staff reasons he can't attend meetings or special functions.E. The following are guidelines to excused absence:
1. Work schedule
2. Death or illness in family
3. Personal illness (extended illness should be reported to governing body so we can keep track of our membership and provide assistance if needed.)
4. Any questionable excuses will be ruled on by the Board with at least two Board members present.
5. A member has the right to request a hearing from the Board on any charges and may appeal through the membership for a membership hearing.F. It is also the responsibility of each member to judge his status. If he determines he can no longer abide by these laws, or is unable to continue as an active member, he should step down and free his position for a new active member.
V. Membership Categories:
A. Active: Attends at least 6 meetings per year and is actively involved in Club functions.
B. Probationary member: First year in the Club.
C. Suspended member: A member who has abused a rule and has temporarily lost privileges to the club determined by the Board.
